My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26
I’ve been in a Move time funk recently. I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I have been quarantined at my house since March. Move time was already a hard thing for me to keep consistent and I honestly thought that during this time I would walk every day, maybe do some yoga, try some home work-outs online and actually move more. Before this season of our life I was at the gym three days a week and was taking my vitamins, drinking more water and eating clean. I suppose you could say that my heart and my flesh were winning at the Move game.
Currently, it is a huge struggle. I have never been more thankful for the grace that Move time gives within the Hello Mornings routine. God, Plan, Move.
God time, Plan time, Move time. My Move routine looks nothing like it did a few months ago, but that doesn’t mean that I have to quit. My routine has been simple, but it is a way to take care of my body. I am getting up to an alarm, I stretch and I wash my face. The grace and wisdom Kat gives us in our God, Plan, Move routine is so life giving when seasons change. Instead of quitting and getting frustrated with myself, I’ve adjusted and continued on.
God desires change and orchestrates the seasons of our life. He is the author and creator of seasons. When He ushers in a new season, it can bring growing pains, schedule shifts, big feelings and emotions, more responsibility, and so on. Our flesh may fail us, but God himself is our strength and portion. He gives us what we need, when we need it to take care of the bodies He has given us. He has also supplied us with new mercies and grace for each season.
So, instead of giving up, let’s lean on the strength of God and adjust the routine. Right now, drinking a glass of water might be all the Move time you can muster and that is okay. In a few weeks, things might lighten up and you can add back in a stretch series, a light walk or even a gym routine. For now, evaluate where you are, what you can do and remember God isn’t asking you for perfection, He’s asking you for yourself. Bring yourself, your flesh and your heart, failing as they may, to Him and He will provide!
Be encouraged friends! No matter the season you find yourself in, the morning routine we keep can be the foundation we stand on through it all. God, Plan, Move. God is the strength of our heart and our portion forever. Remember to reach out to your community here at Hello Mornings, your small group at church or Bible study friends when you’re going through season changes, you may find that you are not alone!
